I want to find the best workout routine to become fit. I need a routine that will make me more a little more muscular, flexibel, etc.
I need a routine that will make me more athletic.

This is a very broad question, and difficult to answer. You will most likely want to incorporate the following:

– Daily Cardio

Cardio is the best thing you can do to lose weight and increase your general health.

– Nutrition Overhaul

Proper nutrition is absolutely crucial to any exercise program. Whether you want to lose weight, increase muscle mass, or simply just improve your health, proper nutrition is critical.

– Weekly Muscle Workouts

If you are looking for overall muscle development, you should work each muscle group 1-2 times a week (abs every day). I do arms on Monday and Friday, Legs on Tuesday, Chest on Wednesday, and my Shoulders and Back on Thursday. It’s important to work the muscles correctly so that you’re sore the next day in those muscle groups, but not sore after 2 days.

To get the desired results, you will need to do Reps and Sets. Generally, a Rep is one movement (one pushup). A set is a group of Reps, and usually you do enough Reps until you can’t do anymore. For pushups, I generally do 15 (very slowly) the first set, until I can’t do another. Then I wait 2-3 minutes and do 13-14 on the 2nd set (because I can’t do 15 again). Then 12-13, then 11-12, then 10.

I do 5 sets each time I work out, and at the end, your muscles should feel stretched and stiff. The next day, you will feel sore. The following day you may be a little tender, but should not be in any pain. It’s important to give yourself at least 3 days between workouts to allow your body to heal. This is when your body builds the muscle; when it’s repairing the damage.

When exercising, make sure you are making slow, precise, and focused movements, working the muscles you are targeting, and only those muscles.

Consistency, determination, control, and posture are paramount. If you do sloppy, fast exercises, you will not see any progress, and you risk personal injury or joint pain.

For at-home workouts, I strongly recommend going to Youtube and taking a look at the videos posted by user Scooby1961. Very easy at-home workouts, and tons of very useful information for beginners.

I like to do about 30min of cardio before a 45min workout routine. Usually 2 muscle groups per day and 2-3 excersizes per part.

Go to this site and download their E-book, I’m sure it will help you!

im 18 yrs old and i just got a gym membership. im not looking to loose weight just want to get toned. what would be the best routine for me?

try the Lil Jack workout plan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezris

What is a good gym exercise routine? I do not drink protein shakes or have high protein diets, not looking for a super buff/ripped body. Looking for a balanced, routine, consistent gym routine exercise to keep fit. What exercises should i do? how many repetitions and sets? What exercises on different days? Thanks for answering.

What I am doing to lose weight and tone up a bit is…

1 Hour Cardio on the Elliptical (everyday)
Back/Biceps 4 Sets Each (10-12 Reps) (every other day)
Chest/Triceps 4 Sets Each (10-12 Reps) (every other day)
Legs 4 Sets (10-12 Reps) (whenever I feel like it)

(I have been using a small Universal Machine to do all my weight training)

As you can see. I don’t do a lot of weight training numbers-wise. Just enough to stimulate different muscle groups every other day. Back/Biceps one day. Chest/Triceps the next. Then back to Back/Biceps the following day and so on and so forth. I throw Legs in there whenever I feel like it. I do not have any planned days to not work out but at times if I just feel tired or not up to it, I’ll take a day off here and there.

That is just what I am doing. I am sure others will have some good info too.

I am six weeks post partum, and got a gym membership. I am thrilled to start exercising and losing weight. I am about 100 lbs over weight, am 25 years old. Can anyone help me design a workout routine to lose weight and to tone? I especially need help in the thigh and butt area. I cannot afford a personal trainer, just need some guidence on a routine.

In my opinion the best machines for losing weight are the cross trainer which is an intense all over body workout, and the bike. When you use the cross trainer try doing just 10 minutes to start. Do five minutes forward and five backwards so you are working all muscles. When on the bike you should try and do 1 minute slow, then 1 minute as fast as you can and repeat that for 10 minutes. The treadmill is really good as a warm up if you’re walking on it/slow jogging. Don’t do too much to start off with as you will only put yourself off, but try and get at least 20-30 minutes of cardio. As for toning, try the weight machines and some basic stretching.

Im a 15 years old boy, and i am 174 cm tall, and my Weight is 72 kg.

Saturday : Chest and Biceps

Sunday: Cardio

Monday: Back and Triceps
.
Tuesday: Cardio

Wednesday: Shoulders and Legs

Thursday : Cardio

Friday : Rest

P.S: My Cardio training is 40 minutes jogging then abs workout then swimming. And on thursday i have an one hour tennis lesson. What do you think??

That’s actually a really good workout schedule, you paired your body parts the correct way and aren’t overtraining or doing to much cardio. Nice Job.

Good Luck,
Casey

Well, I am planning on joining the gym for fitness, not Body building, at least for now, because Im 22, and I trying to quit smoking. Im slim but im not fit at all, but I’m not sure what kind of schedule or plan I should base my "training" on. Thanks in advance.

If you’ve not been around a gym much or had a weight training class in college, I’d suggest four or five sessions with a trainer. Tell him your goals and be comfortable setting modest goals to start. At the present time I do back, biceps and abs on Monday and Thursday and chest, shoulders, triceps and abs on Tuesday and Friday and fifteen minutes on the elliptical trainer each time. A trainer can show you the exercises for each of these body parts and the machines to use. You may want to consider the free weights later

i m doing gym exercises regularly… plz tell that brown gram nd banana if taken regularly thn will it be effiecient to grow up my muscles ??

Waste of time and money.

pls tell some site or other pdf with snaps also(from where i can get complete information about gym exercises and timings, diet and others)

I would recommend joining the Bodybuilding.com forums (no, it is not just for bodybuilders, just health-enthusiasts in general). There are sub-forums for each of the topics that you’ve mentioned, and many more. There is a great access to knowledge there, joining is free, and you will get answers quickly because it is the most populated forum of its type. If you are a teen, there is also a teen section in which teen-specific questions can be asked, discussed, and answered.

Good luck!
